Throughout 2024, the ESCP Business School Turin campus has hosted a series of engaging events called "Expert Corner". These events have brought together Executive MBA participants, ESCP alumni and the wider ESCP community to learn from industry experts and make meaningful connections.
The Expert Corner series is an essential platform for learning and networking among executives and alumni. Organised by Professor Francesco Venuti and the Executive Education team, it has hosted various industry leaders who share their insights on pressing issues relevant to business professionals.
The series has focused on both broad themes and specific challenges faced by leaders in different sectors. Each event features a guest speaker who presents on a relevant topic, followed by a networking session that allows attendees to engage directly with the speaker and each other. This format has fostered a collaborative learning environment that enhances the overall EMBA experience.
Events overview
Raghu Movva on Decarbonisation: The series kicked off with a compelling session by Raghu Movva, Digital Leader at the World Economic Forum, who delivered an eye-opening presentation on "The Complexity of Decarbonisation". He delved into the intricacies of industrial decarbonisation and analysed the crucial levers necessary for shaping a sustainable future, focusing on Scope 1, 2, and 3 activities in European manufacturing. He provided actionable strategies for sustainability, sparking meaningful discussions among attendees about the future of business in a changing climate.
Organisational Happiness with Giulia Pascuzzi: the founder of Shining Bees and EMBA alumna Giulia Pascuzzi, shared her expertise on fostering happiness in the workplace. Her presentation highlighted the numerous benefits of cultivating a positive work culture, which enhances employee satisfaction and drives productivity and innovation within organisations. She shared practical methods for assessing happiness levels among employees. She offered valuable strategies for creating and maintaining a culture of positivity and well-being, further enriching the discussions within the EMBA community.
Leadership Insights from Stefano Cerrato: The series continued with insights from Stefano Cerrato, Chief Corporate & Financial Officer of Juventus Football Club. He stressed the importance of humility and respecting expertise within an organisation, and called for constructive dialogue with CFOs and a deep understanding of different business areas. His perspective on the dynamics of teamwork resonated with attendees, reinforcing the value of collaboration in achieving organisational goals. He also underlined the significance of preparedness and commitment in leadership roles.
Banking Industry Challenges by Marco Montermini: Marco Montermini, Head of Corporate Business North West Region at UniCredit, shared his expertise on "Today's Banking Industry: Key Challenges and Responses." In his discussion of the banking sector's challenges, he explored various critical issues impacting the industry. He provided participants with a clear understanding of the industry's current landscape and the strategies necessary for navigating its complexities.
Change Management with Massimo Visentin: Most recently, Massimo Visentin, Eastern Europe Cluster President at Pfizer, shared his insights on "Mastering Change: Your Key to Success." He provided practical tools for managing transitions and embracing innovation, resonating deeply with the audience. He shared his core values - trust, merit and equity – and strategies for mastering change, emphasising the critical nature of adaptability in today's fast-paced business environment.
Each session in the Expert Corner series weaves a rich tapestry of insights reflecting the dynamic challenges and opportunities of today's business environment. Integrated into ESCP Business School courses, these events provide valuable learning and networking opportunities for EMBA participants. Engaging presentations and discussions not only strengthen the ESCP community, but also contribute significantly to the lifelong learning journey of its members.
