Follow our guidelines and get ready for the Turin Campus Career Fair: preparation is key to stand out from the crowd and impress the recruiters.
The Turin Campus Career Fair is entirely devoted to internship and job search for ESCP students and alumni. The event is going to take place at the Contemporary Art Foundation Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, from 12th to 13th of February,
In the 2020 edition, more than 100 national and international companies are participating in the event to find the ideal candidate for their open positions.
It is a unique opportunity to meet so many recruiters from different fields at one time, it can be a valuable experience for job seekers but also overwhelming if you don’t prepare yourself properly.
Here you can find some useful tips to guide you step-by-step to make the most of the Career Fair and connect with employers.
Before the Career Fair
- Plan which employers you want to meet, make a list by ranking your high-priority to low-priority companies and develop a plan of action.
- Research organisations you are interested in. Try to delve deep into the company culture: their mission, customers, products, history, employment, etc.
- Take a good, hard look at your CV and tailor your resumé to the different companies and positions, try to be as customised and personalised as you can.
- Print enough copies of your Curriculum Vitae to share with recruiters from your targeted companies, and some extra copies, just in case.
- Prepare the elevator pitch that allows you to quickly present yourself at your best, focused on your strengths and your skills and mention why you stopped at their booth.
- Prepare some relevant questions that show your motivation, in addition to preparing answers to potential interview questions, if you want to give a good performance during the interview.
On Career Fair Days
- Dress to impress! The goal is to make an excellent first impression, so be well-groomed, wear formal and comfortable clothes. Men should wear a business suit and women should wear a professional-looking dress or suit.
- Carry CVs in a professional-looking padfolio with a notebook and pen, and use it to collect recruiters' business cards. You need to be free to shake hands, don't carry too many things!
- Arrive early!
- Follow your action plan but consider speaking with one or two of your low-priority companies for practice first. You will be more confident in the interviews with your high-priority companies.
- Be yourself and emphasize your soft skills.
- Smile!
- Collect business cards from recruiters. You can write a note on the back of each card to remind you what you spoke to each recruiter about.
- Attend company presentations: this can give you valuable insights into the companies you are interested in and more opportunities for a job interview.
- Stay focused on your goal, and you will get a few job leads, lots of information, and new network contacts.
After the Career Fair
- Plan a follow-up strategy: organise your notes from your recruiter's interactions and identify your next steps.
- Follow up with recruiters of your target companies by writing a thank-you e-mail and ask for an interview.
- Apply online for positions or follow up with employers based on the information you received from recruiters.
Good Luck, guys!
