Universities from Angola, Spain, Portugal and Cape Verde Unite for Sustainable Tourism

ESCP Business School had the pleasure to participate in the opening ceremony of the SUST-TURISMO Responsibility and Sustainability project, funded by the ERASMUS-EDU-2022-CBHE partnerships for transformation in higher education programme.The event took place on October 11th at the auditorium of Unipiage

Prof. Lola Herrero and Miguel Silva, "Research technical-assistant "SUST Turismo" Project, from ESCP where also part of the first workshop of the SUST-TURISMO partners institutions that took place from October 11 to 13 at the Pestana Tropico Hotel in the city of Praia (Cabo Verde), with the aim of creating a space for sharing and discussion for all member institutions that culminated in the approval of the manuals, documents and structures relevant to the development of the project, among them: the financial and administrative procedures, the formalisation of the Steering and Management Committees, the Communication & Dissemination plan, the next Events Organization, and the Didactic Guide to co-create among the different higher education institutions, all the training resources.

On the last day, during the closing workshop and handing out of certificates, the general coordinator of SUST-TURISMO, Prof. Dr. Helena Santos, with her partners, showed her satisfaction for being part of these three intense days of hard work to make decisions that were relevant and pleasant, and that will bring good results for all involved.

UNIVERSITIES FROM ANGOLA, SPAIN, PORTUGAL AND CAPE VERDE UNITED FOR SUSTAINABLE TOURISM

In the final module of the training, students will have to play as sustainable tourism “entrepreneurs”, by designing and developing a project on the theme of sustainable tourism, which will be evaluated by a panel of professors and experts in the field. The on-site and final workshop of the project will be held in Angola and will feature the presentation by the students of the best evaluated projects of each institution. To finish, the project's collaborators took a guided tour to Cidade Velha in the company of the acting Mayor of Ribeira Grande de Santiago, Councilor Dr. Manuel Monteiro and the director of the Cidade Velha Cultural Center, Dr. Elizabeth Cardoso. The visit took place after a brief presentation of the Air Conditioning and Urban Rehabilitation projects that are already being carried out in the city.

The participants gave positive feedback to the activities carried out in these 3 days and hope for more meetings like this one.
