Lola Herrero is since 2013, Associate Professor at ESCP Business School (Madrid Campus), being currently Jean-Baptiste Say Institute Scientific-Academic Director (Madrid Campus), and academicals advisor of the MSc in Hospitality and Tourism Management. From 2002- until 2014 she has been a lecturer in the Department of Business Economics at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M). She holds a Ph.D. in Business Economics (Rey Juan Carlos University, Madrid), an M.Phil.in "Quality Management" (Official Tourism School in Madrid) and a B.A. Hons in "European Tourism Management" (University of Savoie, France).
She is developing as principal researcher/director, international cooperation for development projects and consultancy missions, mainly in LatAm funded by public and private institutions. The more recent, and ongoing projects, are the following:
Project: “Especialización en Gestión de Iniciativas Económicas Colaborativas y Economía Social en Centroamérica (Proyecto INICIA)”, funded by EU ERASMUS Plus (2019-2021).
Project: “IRUDESCA. Integración Regional, Universidad y Desarrollo Sostenible en Centroamérica”, funded by EU ERASMUS Plus (2017-2019).
Since 2016, she is the responsible of different advisory/consultancy missions, being ESCP the “academic partner” of Riu Hotels for its Corporate Social Responsibility department. Among other projects “On the field”, the most recent one (2019-20) developed in Cancun (México) and in progress is the design, and execution of a CRS tool: “Monitoring and impact system of destination sustainability projects (SSIP-RIU).
Aligned with the projects developed, her recent research in based on the topic/field of sustainability management, mainly related to tourism destinations and in emerging destinations, highlighting the most recent publications in peer review journals (2019):
