Catherine Chastenet de Géry is Associate Professor in the Management Department at ESCP Business School. She holds a Ph.D. in economics. She has developed her research within the field of the economics of organizations and institutions.

Her early research focused on the analysis of employment issues, notably on the relationship between continuing education, employment and skills management in various sectors of activity.

Subsequently, she developed collective and individual research focused on clusters, particularly regarding the entrepreneurial performance of the French clusters and also on the management of skills within such clusters.

She has also been involved in collective research studies in the distribution sector relating to the impact of commercial innovations on the structure of jobs in the retail sector on one hand, and on the other hand, the issue of franchisee independence and franchise performance, a study funded by the French Franchise Federation.

More recently, she has been involved in collective research on the “Sociétés à mission” in France and on the ecological transition of the cosmetics sector.

In her research, Catherine Chastenet de Géry explores the concepts of firms’ networks/ territorial issues/competitiveness/clusters/entrepreneurial performance/skills management, using the economics of organizations as a main focus. The latter most often involves longitudinal and quantitative research methodology, such as exploratory data analysis which enables the emergence of typologies.

Prior to joining ESCP, Catherine Chastenet de Géry was Dean of the Faculty at Novancia (a business school of the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry) where she was particularly interested in the issue of enhancing pedagogical innovation. Since then, she has participated in the work and publications of the Pedogogical Innovation group within the Chapter of the Management Schools of the Conférence des Grandes Ecoles and is now part of the expert group on Pedagogical Innovation in the CDEFM (Conférence des Directeurs des Ecoles Françaises de Management).

She was the elected coordinator of the Management Department of ESCP Business School between 2018 and 2022.

She has been the Academic Director of the Executive Master Manager Dirigeant since 2018, and a member of the French “Commission des Comptes Commerciaux de la Nation” since 2011.
